The Bishops of Cameroon declared that the voting exercise took place in total serenity. The statement was made during a meeting of the national Episcopal conference, held on October 11, 2018 in Yaounde. In this regard, they are calling on the Constitutional Council to manifest their high sense of responsibility to translate and respect the choice of the population as freely demonstrated in the poll. Also, they recommend political parties and candidates to avoid acts of provocation and humiliation to their adversaries in case of a victory and that, losers should use legal procedure to channel petition. Equally that the population should abstain from any uprising to violence, looting and vandalism. They concluded with a call on Cameroonians to preserve peace which is a precious gift from God.
