National Extracurricular Sports Game: maiden edition billed for December

Addressing the press on Monday, 20th November, 2023 at the auditorium of the Ministry of Communication, the Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, Mounouna Foutsou revealed that the first edition of Extracurricular Sports Game (JENASESCO) will hold from the 17-22 of December, 2023 in Yaoundé, in the presence of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Communication, Professor Felix Zogo, representative of the Minister of Communication.

JENASESCO is a platform for youths not normally covered by school and university sports federations to showcase their talents and know-how.

During the press conference, it was revealed that JENASESCO will take place alongside the 3rd International Exhibition for the Promotion of Youth Entrepreneurship dubbed SIPROME – Jeunes to be held from 6 to 16 December, 2023. Both events will commemorate the 4th edition of the Youth Conneckt Cameroon Program holding under the theme: “ Resilience and Competitiveness of Young Businesses: Stakes and Opportunities of the African Continental Free Trade Area”.

JENASESCO is expected to gather some 1,820,  aged between 18 and 35 from across the 10 regions of the country. The sites retained to host this 1st edition of JENASESCO games are: the Yaounde Omnisports Stadium and it’s annexes, the Mfandena Gymnasium as well as the games village. Government Bilingual High School, Essos – Yaounde has been retained for accommodation and all cultural events.  

The youths will compete in various sporting disciplines which will be enriched by Civic and Entrepreneurial Rearmament sessions as a way to make sports a time to strengthen and consolidate civic and patriotic values.
