GOVERNMENT ESTABLISHED CONFINEMENT CENTERS

With the coming of Covid-19 in Cameroon since the 6th of March 2020, and following the rapid increase in the number of cases each day, the government, in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health, has been leaving no stone to ensure that those affected get proper health care under good hospitalized conditions.

This is evident in the creation of some specialized centers for the treatment and confinement of Covid-19 patients in almost all the regions of Cameroon, Yaounde has three of the centers, one at the Military Stadium, another at the Olembe low cost housing area, and in the former Orca center.

Recently, on 28 April 2020, the Minister of Public Health, undertook an inspection to the specialized centers at the Military Stadium and the ORCA center. He revealed that the military stadium has a capacity of 400 beds and at the time he was speaking 150 beds were already in place.

The ORCA center is estimated to contain at least 320 patients. The minister left the construction site with the assurance of the technician and engineers that by the end of the week, the work will be completed and the center ready for use. Each of these centers is headed by a director and assisted by Sub director.

It is the government’s wish that the population should continue to follow the various preventive measures of constant washing of hands with running water and soap, use of sanitizers, wearing of mask and maintaining social distancing. If these measures are followed, the rate of infection will greatly reduce and the few infected cases will be better taken care of.
