The government of Cameroon has made public a schedule for the second phase of the repatriation of over six hundred Cameroonians stranded abroad due to shutdown as a result of the deadly corona virus pandemic. The presidential decree was released on April 23, 2020. According to the schedule, these citizens will be repatriated from different parts of the world in five groups. The schedule ran from Friday the 8th to Monday the 11th of May, 2020.
The first group flew from Dakar to Abuja, then to Cotonou and will finally landed at Nsimalen International Airport in Yaounde. On the 9thh of May, the second setl departed t from Johannesburg to Dubai and then to Nsimalen on the same day. Others arrived from Toronto, Washington, Paris and Sao Paulo. The last but one set left Tunis, passing through Lome to Yaounde Nsimalen Airport on the 11th of May. The Last set flew from Libreville to Kinshasa, and then to Bangui and land at the Nsimalen airport.
The Prime Minister and Head of Government, Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute, instructed the Minister of Public Health to work in synergy with the Governor of the Center Region to finalize measures related to the organization of the confinement of these compatriots once the get to Cameroon, and to create sufficient space at the specialized treatment centers for those who will test positive of the virus.
