Le MINCOM reçoit en audience une délégation des journalistes du Syndicat Nationale des Journalistes du Cameroun et la Fédération Internationale des Journalistes

Minister of Communication, Rene Emmanuel Sadi received a 7-man delegation of journalists on Thursday 21st November,2025. The delegation was headed by Marion Obam, President of the Cameroon Journalists Trade Union, accompanied by Dominique Pradale, President of the International Union of Journalists on an official visit to Cameroon among others. In the close to one hour audience with yhr Government Spokesperson, discussions centered on the challenges of the communication sector, security of journalists, press freedom as well as cooperation between national and international institutions that seeks to promote responsible journalism.

The delegation presented a project to the Minister of Communication which seeks to set up a council to regulate unethical norma within the profession.

At the end of the audience it was a satisfied team that separated with the Communication boss. « We have met someone who shares the same vision like professionals in Cameroon and beyond, the auto-regulation of professionals by professionals. We think this is going to help produce quality information on the media. » Said Dominique at the end of the audience

On her part, Marion Obam states that the creation of this body is a necessity. « The missions of the body is enormous. The first step will be to put in place a committee to pilot that will be charged with overseeing the activities of journalists and civil society actors dealing with issues around the press. This will bring sanity in the profession and listen to the challenges of journalists in the course of the exercise of their duty. »

Other issues evoked during the audience were the living conditions of journalists and the need to apply a collective convention to guarantee decent salaries for these professionals as well as the security of these professionals who are at the forefront of thw information chain.
