The National Commission for Institutional Support to the Private Press in Cameroon are in session today August 07, 2026 to evaluate and allocate annual state subsidies to eligible private print and online media publishing institutions. The Minister of Communication and President of the Commission, Rene Emmanuel SADI, chair of the session in his opener, saluted the press for their resilience and demonstration of responsibility and professionalism especially during the coverage of major state events of international status such as the W.T.O conference, the Apostolic Visit of the Pope, and the Visit of the Archbishop of Canterbury, and called for transparency in the selection process. As one of its principal missions, the Ministry of Communication has the responsibility to ensure the continuous existence and survival of a vibrant private press and online media publishing establishments. With over 51 application files for scrutiny this year, with 48 of them in the print media and 4 for online media, according to the Director of the Department of Private Media Development and Advertising and Head of Technical Secretariat of the commission, Mr. Ngankak Kameni Kisito, the commission now has the task to select qualified beneficiaries for subvention from the government for the 2026 fiscal year.
