Itinerant African Energy Fair: Minister Sadi and peers honoured

The Minister of Communication and Government spokesperson, Rene Emmanuel Sadi alongside his counterparts of Water and Energy, Gaston Eloundou Essomba as well as Small and Medium Size Enterprises, Achille Bassilekin lll received awards during the inaugural  session of the Itinerant African Energy Fair that took place at the Yaoundé Conference Centre.  The Minister of Communication and his peers were awarded by the Confederation of Electricity in Africa for their involvement in the successful organisation of this fair which sought to improve the energy potentials of Cameroon and Africa.

Participants at the fair were urged to reflect on how to make the energy sector a factor of economic growth as it will improve on the well being of the population.

In Cameroon, the electricity access rate stands at 71% as per 2022 statistics, slightly above the African average of 54%, nonetheless, this sector still faces a number of challenges especially in households and businesses on daily basis.

The government of Cameroon has not relented efforts to make Cameroon achieve it’s sovereignty in the energy sector as the electricity sector recovery plan 2023-2030 has been adopted, to be financed to the tune of 6, 000 billion FRS. The distribution, production and transportation is to be carried out in a public-private partnership mode, according to the NDS30.

At the end of the inaugural ceremony, the Minister of Communication, Rene Emmanuel Sadi alongside his counterparts and other dignitaries visited the various exhibition stands.
