FAR NORTH: PAUL BIYA PROMISES ECONOMIC LEAP
The Head of State and CPDM candidate for the 2018 Presidential election, Paul Biya was in Maroua in the Far North Region for his maiden outing for campaign for the three Northern regions, accompanied by First Lady Chantal Biya on September 29, 2018. He received a hilarious
welcome by the entire population at the Lamido YAYA Garga Stadium, comprising of top Administrative and CPDM party officials, as well as those of ally parties to the CPDM, traditional rulers, elites and supporters and sympathisers.
Taking the rostrum after the Government Delegate of Maroua, and the Head of the CPDM Campaign team for the Far North, the Rt. CAVAYE YEGUIE Djibril who is also President of the National Assembly, President Paul Biya did not mince words. He lauded the resilience of the population of the Region especially the vigilante groups in fighting back and to keep abay Boko Haram. This however
has been in collaboration with the Defence Forces and the Administration, he added. A threat which has caused loss of lives, displacement of persons and families and dealt negatively on the Economic and Educational system.
To remedy these adverse climate in the region, Presidential hopeful promised a number of development projects such as the construction of a rail-way line from Ngaoundere to NDjamena (Chad) passing through Kousseri. In the same light, the CPDM candidate also promised that Tourism will also be developed, regarding the numerous touristic potentials endowed in the Northern Regions ranging from its topographical relief, wildlife reserves and culture.
